Swabian towns in Bavaria

Donauwörth

  • Bavarian-Swabian pearl of the river Danube on the ‘Romantic Street’. The former free imperial town Donauwörth (18,000 inhabitants approx.) – situated on the confluence of Danube and Wörnitz and on the foothills of the Swabian and Franconian Jura – offers many leisure and recreation possibilities. Due to its favorable central position, the Bavarian-Swabian town on the Danube is a favorite residence as well as starting point for bikers, hikers and tourists. Five different characteristic landscapes are to be found around Donauwörth. – Whether you travel to the family-friendly valley of the river Altmühl with its well-known fossil stone pits, into the geo-park Ries, the largest meteor crater of Europe, or into the dreamily valley of the Kessel: there is a bit of everything … not to mention the floodplains of the rivers Danube and Wörnitz.
