Füssen
Füssen in the Allgaeu (14,000 inhabitants approx.), southern ending point of the Romantic Road, is well-known as holiday and health resort. Fascinating may be above all the charming position at the foot of the Alps, surrounded by impressive mountain tops and only 4 km away from the castle Neuschwanstein. The region offers almost infinite possibilities for an unforgettable vacation – hiking and biking, hang-gliding, water and winter sports. The enchanting historic town center of Füssen has conserved romance in winding alleys and medieval houses up to our days. Highlights of the rich list of cultural events are certainly the Fürstensaal summer concerts, the string instrument festival “vielsaitig”, the medieval festival "Kaiserfest" and other events with historic setting.
